Comfy yet cumbersome Combi Victoria 8850 Manchester Convertible Car Seat

Based on my former location and availability/cost of carseats I decided to buy the carseat for my first child. Good buy. When we had the second child I went back to all the car seat reviews all over again. Of course the always comes out ahead but I have a stroller that is great. I loved the extra cushioning. The wide base so that the little ones could fold up their legs. It comes with infant support. I think the are too expensive for what they are so I went with this one, which is half the price.

It was very easy to install rear-facing, fully reclined. My child fit in well at 8lbs coming home from the hospital. When he got to be 20lbs I needed to move him forward facing so that I could easily move him in an out. It says all over this carseat that they need to be 20lbs and 1 year to go forward facing. Well he turned 1 year last week so now we are following the rules but I think all new carseats have changed to that anyway.

But then there came the time when I had to take the seat apart to throw the cushions in the wash and take out the bottom infant cushion. What a pain. The base does not detach like they say. You have to take the seat out, fully recline in, fit your hand behind the seat, take out a shield, rotate the belt clip and detach the belts to slip then out. Ok, so that was hard enough, wait till you have to get that all back in. Serious pain. You have to do all this with to adjust the strp positioning too! Also it is a good thing that I don’t have to do as much air travel as I did with the first one. I would not want to lug this heavy sucker around.

So it is a great carseat for durability and comfort but just hope that you don’t have to adjust the straps, clean it or transport it.

Easy, Breezy, & Durable Graco TurboBooster 8491 Cricket

I live in Texas, and since this is where I live, I have looked up my state’s laws on car seats for children:

* 545.412. Child Passenger Safety Seat Systems; Offense

* 1

Not all I thought it would be Evenflo Titan 5 York Convertible Car Seat

When I went out to buy a new car seat for my daughter, this looked like the perfect seat. It was super soft, fit in out truck very tight and securely, was reasonably priced and appeared to be very safe, it even matched the colors of our truck! The strap system is easy to adjust and the seat is easy to buckle in, even without using the latch system for families who own older vehicles. The seat is easy to take the cover and strap systems off of to launder and easy to put back on (please, hang dry only, if you dry them in the drier, they won’t fit back on the seat!) But once my daughter started to grow, it became very apparent that the buckle system was not designed for chubby legged babies and toddlers! She became terrified of this seat because no matter how hard we tried not to, her legs still got pinched a few times! I ended up having to replace the seat because she would cry just seeing this seat yet was fine with getting into her other car seat she had in my van. If your children run skinny this would be a great seat, but, if your babies are chubby, look elsewhere!

Looking for a Second Booster Seat? Check this out! Graco TurboBooster 8491 Cricket

I already own the TurboBooster with the back but needed a second booster seat for my husband’s vehicle since he is taking our oldest daughter to school. I needed something that was safe but easy for him to move out of the way for clients when not in use.

My solution was found in the baby aisle in Wal-Mart next to the carseats. I already have a high opinion of products. All of my carseats except one infant carrier have been /. So for $25 I found the TurboBooster 8491.

Could be easier to use, but seems very safe Britax Companion Cambridge Infant Car Seat

We bought this infant carrier over others on the market because of ’s reputation for carseat safety. I’m very happy with the head support system this seat has included. It inflates (by squeezing a hidden pump) to fit your baby’s head perfectly and keeps the head from needing any additional support, which is a nice feature and very convenient. It also has a bar on the base which I haven’t seen on any other infant carrier to keep it from tipping into the car’s seat in the event of a crash. While we haven’t been able to test this ourselves in a crash (thankfully), the idea makes good sense. The padding seems sufficient and our infant always sleeps well while in the seat. The canopy extends all the way forward, keeping my baby shaded when it’s too sunny outside. It also holds a baby up to 22 pounds, 2 pounds heavier than many other seats on the market. It is L.A.T.C.H. compatible, although we have not been able to use this feature as our car is too old. It is however expensive (about $200), heavy (I tend to use 2 hands when possible and rest it on my hip to carry it but I’m a fairly petite person), and could use a little improvement in design. The release that you have to squeeze to adjust the handle bar (there’s a trigger to squeeze on each side), is very difficult to do. After playing with the seat awhile, we were able to figure out how to make it work. We basically have to be directly over the top of the carseat (a little difficult with the height of our SUV), squeeze both handles HARD and rotate the handle bar back or forward as needed. The canopy tends to get in the way of the movement a bit as well, making it a little more difficult. Also, releasing the seat from the base was extremely difficult until I figured out the trick to it. My neighbor even tried helping me release it when I first installed it for about 10 minutes before we finally got it to work! The trick to that is to squeeze the release using both hands (even though there is only one trigger to squeeze, unlike the handle bar) - positioning one hand to each side of the release mechanism so the pressure is very even. I had realized while trying to release it with just one hand that one side of the carrier was coming free but the other stayed locked to the base. Positioning your hands to the outsides of each side of the release really made it work much easier. Despite these inconveniences, which aren’t too horribly bad once you figure them out, I’d still recommend this seat based primarily on ’s safety record. We’ve owned several other seats by them (Roundabout, Advantage, Marathon, and Handle with Care), and have been very impressed with the quality and safety this company shows. Hopefully will improve next year’s model to be a little easier to use! One last thing to note is that the product description says that this seat has ’s patented Versa-Tether system, which it does not. I had hoped that it would (to further stabilize the base), but unfortunately it doesn’t.

Recaro Start Car Seat… Simply the BEST Recaro Young Start Midnight Desert Booster Car Seat

My wife and I were hesitant at spending $350 for a car seat for our 5 year old son but we felt it was an investment in his safety and after having read many, many reviews and safety reports, we made the sacrifice and have never looked back.

As far as safety reports go, I found literally hundreds and hundreds of recalls for all the major brands and some off-brands, but I didn’t even find ONE for Recaro!
