Very Nice carseat, Roomy! Combi Tyro 8001 Crimson Infant Car Seat If you are looking for a great infant car seat - this is it! I bought it in conjunction with a stroller (see my re...

I purchased the Ultra Savvy stroller and was happy with the purchase, so I decided to try their Tyro 8000 carseat. I am very pleased with my purchase.

So far I have been toting my daughter around in it every day for the last 8 months and it looks just like it did the day I took it out of the box. There is not one ounce of noticable wear on the seat itself or the fabric. I have had to take apart the carseat to wash the fabric due to some accidents, but in all the washings and reassemblings, it looks as good as new. It is easy to take apart and to put back together.

When we brought my daughter home from the hospital, she weighed just over 5 pounds. We were able to adjust the straps to fit her, and I felt comfortable that she was secure. She is now approaching the 20 pound weight limit of the seat and she still has plenty of room - the seat doesn’t feel cramped at all. The seat has 3 adjustable shoulder strap heights as well as an easily accessible and adjustable leg strap.

The carseat base is very easy to install into any car. We have put it in a variety of cars (Honda Pilot, Subaru Outback, Honda CRV, Acura sports car, and a Pathfinder just to name a few), and we have not had a problem yet. The base is easy to transfer from car to car and is just as easy to install, whether you have a lap belt or a shoulder strap.

Another great feature about the carseat is that you don’t have to have the base to strap it into the car. And in fact it is almost as simple to strap it in without the base as it is with the base. This feature comes in really handy when you accidentally leave the base in someone else’s car and can’t get it back for a few days.

If what you are looking for are bells and whistles and a lot of “puff” - don’t buy this car seat! It has very clean, tight lines, no frill, and a simply patterned fabric. Which, if I am being totally honest, was my #1 criteria for a car seat. I wanted a very gender neutral looking seat that could last through all of my children.

I am still really happy that I purchased the Tyro 8000 car seat and base, and would buy it again for the next kid (but I won’t need to because this one is still in such FABULOUS shape)!
